New Orleans Rugby Mardi Gras Classic 2004

February 13-14, 2004 -- Georgetown dominated the New Orleans Tournament and took home the Tourney Championship. The Hoyas shut out Loyola College from Chicago in the first round and
continued their dominance in the second round against DePaul from Illinois. In the semifinal match, DePaul forfeited due to a shortage of players, who were still recovering from the previous night's festivities. Georgetown advanced to the finals against Loyola and finished the job.

Outside center Greg Suellentrop '05 and fullback Ben Purcell '05 each scored five tries in the tournament to lead the team scoring with 25 points a piece. Flyhalf Jake Ludwigson '05 kicked in five conversions for 10 points. Wing Paul Detjen '06, inside center Jeff Miller '06, and wing Rich
Staley '05 each scored two tries for 10 points. Eightman Mike Zoch '06 and rookie prop Tony Grusich '06 scored their first A side tries.
