November 9, 2008 -- PRU Finals vs. Salisbury University
Salisbury, MD -- Georgetown lost in the Potomac Rugby Union Finals against Salisbury University, 19-45, to take the PRU second seed at the Mid-Atlantic Territorial Playoffs in March. The Hoyas struck the scoreboard first and maintained a tight first half game only down by six points. In the second half, Georgetown's errors were costly as the opposition capitalized to convert into points. Georgetown completes in regular season and ends the fall with the inaugural games against the Georgetown Law School and the Alumni on Georgetown's campus field.

November 8, 2008 -- PRU Semifinals vs. Loyola College
Salisbury, MD -- Georgetown will play in the PRU Championship for its sixth time in seven years with a win in the semifinals against Loyola College, 27-26. Georgetown comfortably held a 27-0 half time lead but were held scoreless in the second half as Loyola ran in four second half tries. The Hoyas will play Salisbury University at 2pm.
Outside center Phil Cooney '10 led the team scoring with a try, a penalty kick and two conversions for 12 points. Team Captain Dan Castrigano '09 converted a penalty and a conversion for five points. Inside center Mike Wrotniak '12 scored a try, and prop Jordan Maitland '12 scored his first A side try.

November 1, 2008 -- PRU Quarterfinals vs. George Washington University
Severna Park , MD -- Georgetown advanced to the PRU Final 4 for its seventh straight season with a victory in the first round against George Washington University, 45-7. In a rematch from the regular season, George Washington came out firing and marched downfield in the opening minutes for a converted try. Georgetown responded for 45 unanswered points and denied the opposition it's scoring opportunities for the rest of the game. Next weekend, the Hoyas will travel to Salisbury, MD and will play Loyola College (PRU #4) in the PRU semi final round.
Outside center Phil Cooney '10 led the team scoring with two tries and two conversions for 14 points. Team Captain Dan Castrigano '09 added four conversions and a penalty kick for 11 points. Fullback Keenan Conrad '11 scored two tries for 10 points, and tries were scored by inside center Sam Perkins '11, wing Joey Angiuli '12, and lock John Fisher-Thompson '09.

October 25, 2008 -- vs. Mt. St. Mary's College
Ft. Washington, MD -- Georgetown finished the regular season games with a win against Mt. St. Mary's College, 56-12. The Hoyas scored a total of 10 tries on the wet field to clinch hosting the first round of the playoffs next week. Georgetown entered the try zone five times before the opposition entered the scoreboard. Georgetown is seeded #1 going into the PRU playoffs and will host the PRU #8 team.
Outside center Phil Cooney '10 led the team scoring with two tries and three conversion for 16 points. Inside center Sam Perkins '11 scored a hat trick of tries for 15 points. Eightman Joe Kemper '09 and lock John Fisher-Thompson '09 each scored a try. Wing Joey Angiuli '12, fullback Dave Nicol '12, and flyhalf Max Odenheimer '12 scored their first A Side tries.

October 19, 2008 -- vs. Catholic University
Washington, DC -- Georgetown swept its DC Conference opponents with their defeat of Catholic University, 22-5. As with previous matches, the intensity rises between both teams in another classic match for Georgetown's Parent's weekend. Both teams maintained the pressure throughout the match, with the Hoyas denying opportunities and holding Catholic to only a score in the second half. Georgetown led at the half by 10 points and broke through for a couple of tries late in the second half to secure another victory. Georgetown will play its final regular season game against Mt. St. Mary's College next Saturday.
Team Captain Dan Castrigano '09 led all scores with a try, penalty kick, and two conversions for 12 points. Tries were scored by Mike Wrotniak '12 and outside center Phil Cooney '10.

Georgetown B defeated Catholic B with the final score of 71-5. The young Hoyas exploded for 14 tries and gave up an interception try in the closing minutes. Wing Matteo Gomez '11 led all scoring with two tries and two conversions for 14 points. Flanker Nico Eisler '12, scrumhalf Matt Benton '11, wing Joe Romano '12, center David Nicol '12 each scored two tries each. October 11, 2008 -- vs. George Washington University
Washington, DC -- Georgetown defeated George Washington University, 57-0, to remain undefeated in league play. The Hoyas scored quick tries early in the first half and continued the attack to the closing minutes for a total of nine scores. Georgetown welcome many returning alumni, family and friends to the game despite relocating the match to Gonzaga High School because the initial field was unexpectedly closed by park services for the rest of the season. Thank you for all who came out to support the Hoyas!
Eightman Joe Kemper '09 led the game scoring with a hat trick of tries for 15 points. Flyhalf Dan Castrigano '09 converted seven kicks for 14 points. September 27, 2008 -- vs. University of Maryland Baltimore Country (UMBC)
Baltimore, MD -- Georgetown scored five tries in the heavy rain to beat University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), 31-0. The Hoyas scored three tries in the early part of the first half but were contained until the last part of the second half. Tries were scored by wing Sean McNamara '09, fullback James Grant '09, and eightman Joe Kemper '09. Flyhalf Dan Castrigano '09 added three conversions for six points. Wing Mike Wrotniak '12 and prop Mike Onyiego '09 each scored their first A side try. Georgetown is on a bye next weekend and will resume their league schedule the week on October 11 against George Washington. Next Sunday, the Hoyas Freshmen and Sophomores will play the PRU High School Select Side on Georgetown's Multi Sport Facility.

Kutztown, PA -- Georgetown lost to Kutztown University in Pennyslvania, 19-64 in its second weekend of games. The Hoyas striked on the scoreboard first, but the skills and fitness of the MARFU Premier League's best broke through the Georgetown defense for 10 tries. Georgetown entered the end zone three times and will begin its conference games next weekend against American University. Tries were score by Brian Litwak '10, outside center Brendan Smith '10 and wing Sean McNamara '09. Flyhalf Dan Castrigano '09 converted two tries for four points.

September 6, 2008 -- vs. James Madison University
Herndon, VA -- Georgetown fielded three teams in its fall season opener at the old Redskin Park in Herndon, VA. After the time changes and teams dropping out because of the passing tropical storm, over 60 of Georgetown's players were eager to kick off the season in the rain. Georgetown B and C simultaneously played against James Madison B and a mixed side from Old Dominion University, respectively. Georgetown B won 31-0, and Georgetown C, comprised mostly of new players, were scoreless to ODU's five tries. Fullback Brock Magruder '10 led the B's with three scores for 15 points. Flanker Nick Shepard '11 and wing Mike Wrotniak '12 each scored a try.
Georgetown A played last against James Madison University's A team to win 50-0 in a shortened match. Fullback Phil Cooney '10 led all scores with four tries for 20 points. Captain Dan Castrigano '09 scored a try and converted five scores for 15 total points. Outside center Brendan Smith '10, wing James Grant '09 and scrumhalf Brian Litwak '10 each scored a try. Next Saturday, the Hoyas will travel to the nationally ranked MARFU Premier team, Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
